A General Introduction to Blogging
Blogging, which comes from the expression web-logging, has become a widely popular phenomena these days.
In current times, is there really still a reason in having to explain blogging? I highly doubt it. The vast majority of individuals know that blogging is. But to those who are not familiar with the expression: what is blogging? Blogging essentially means having an online personal diary which one shares with everyone. Some people create ten blog posts a day, others write a blog post every two months or so. In fact, countless of people are blogging every day, and some are in fact, are making a decent living out of it.
Many inquire what is the appeal of that? Exhibitionism? It’s possible that to some that is the case. To other people blogging gives the ability to share experiences. To other it gives the ability to share professional experiences and network: there are numerous professional blogs in fundamentally every subject you can imagine: cooking, internet marketing, cars classic cars, GPS satellites, health, insurance, personal computers, back pain, stomach pain, headaches, chronic fatigue and so on.
I have an acquaintance with such a professional blog where he shares certain experiences he has learned throughout his days (he is a manager). I have a friend with a personal blog where he shares personal anecdotes about his life and family (he has 3 toddlers at home: therefore, much to share). I have a friend that has a funny blog, where he share all the funny stories he hears of. I even know someone with a photoblog where he shares a new – and gorgeous – photo every single day. I even knew a guy who had a specialized version of a photo blog: he used to share photos of all the meals he eats. Indeed, the blogging arena is extremely diverse.
The point is that this new media offers alternatives that until recently had not existed. In other words, blogging in the 21st century version of journalism. It enables everyone to open a computer, write an article, and basically become a journalist whose stories can in theory be read by millions. While this comes with a a lot of responsibilities, it is also a great enabler of free speech and freedom of information.
