If you wear contact lenses then there are some basic must be taken to prevent eye infections. Basic contact lens hygiene is easy to follow and will help to keep your eye healthy.

Prior to placing contacts in your eyes, you need to thoroughly dry and wash your hands. You must lather and scrub your hands with warm water for 30 seconds.

Do not install contacts over a bathroom sink as sinks are full of bacteria and you may accidentally drop the lens down the drain. Instead of working on a desk or a clean table with a mirror. To ensure you do not mix up your lenses by mistake, open the case that holds your contacts one side at a time.

After the first lens is in, do it again with the next lens. Dump any remaining solution down the drain and rinse the case with clean contact lens solution.

Never touch the tip of the bottle of solution for contact lenses at all. It’s contents sterile and this will help to keep the bottle.

This is especially true if your contacts are in and while you should never rub your eyes. The cornea of your eye and cause major damage you could scratched. Soft contact lenses should only be re-wetted with contact solution, never use water or saliva.

Every three months, the contact lens case should be replaced. You must replace your soft contact lenses as recommended by a physician. Do not attempt to wear your contact lenses longer than recommended by your doctor.
