Transfer Files between Computers with a Portable External Hard Drive
One of the biggest hassles with owning multiple computers is trying to get files from one computer to the other. I’m a journalist and sometimes I’ll be doing work on my desktop in the office when suddenly I get a call to head out to the scene of a crime or something like that and I’ll need to continue my work on the same piece. I used to have to save the file and then email it to myself to be opened on my laptop later but now I’ve taken to using a portable external hard drive.
I don’t save any information to my computers directly anymore. I’ll save things to my portable external hard drive so when I get called out to a scene I’ll just unplug it and plug it into my laptop later where I can access it as if I was working from the laptop the entire time.
